Selling Gatorade

I am currently approaching the age of nineteen faster than I can read these books for class.  I think I can remember things that happened ten years ago. Everything before nine was just a blur, but one thing I do remember was my brother and I used to have this Gatorade stand at the end of our street at West Point where we’d sell the stuff for a quarter a cup.  We sold it to construction workers, people who walked their dog, and of course everyone who was there for the Army Football games.  It was pretty sweet and we thought we were going to be billionaires doing it.  Back then ten dollar could buy the world.  Now Big K.R.I. it fills my metro card.  If I’m turning nineteen it sure doesn’t feel like it.  I feel just as immature as three years ago.  Why didn’t I listen to my Mom’s advice and just make the bed every day when I wake up.  Still growing I guess.

This is some nice Big K.R.I.T: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm0gbJ_6kK0

Kendrick Lamar

When I found out I was going to see Kendrick Lamar live in concert I think my jawline dropped so low that I could have fit this entire laptop in my mouth.  I’m seeing him at the Roseland Ballroom Tuesday and have every intention of getting as crazy as possible for it.  To prepare for this I have prepared a list of 10 Kendrick Lamar songs that in no particular order are amazing.
HIII Power
No Makeup
Barbed Wire
Backseat Freestyle
M.A.A.D City
Black Boy Fly
Money Trees
Never mind this list just listen to everything he ever said ever. I’m at a point where I just have this lethal dosage of excitement pumping through my veins that can only be cured Tuesday.

Malcolm X

One Day and forty eight years ago, Malcolm Little AKA Malcolm  X was shot giving a speech at the Audubon Ballroom on 165th street and Broadway  in New York City.  He was shot 15 times at close range Once with a sawed off shotgun, seven times from a handgun, and seven times from another handgun. His assassins were members of the Nation of Islam, a group that Malcolm X was once a prominent member of.  Today, forty eight years ago, the Nation Of Islam’s “Muslim mosque #7” in Harlem was fire bombed by people outraged by the nations actions, the very Mosque which Malcolm was once in charge of.
Malcolm X is one of my favorite historical figures.  He was a man who was able to change his mind and grow through the course of his life.  Starting from the bottom, he learned to keep his mind open even in the face of powers that told him his thoughts and opinions were wrong.  Also, he was one Badass public speaker.

PlayStation 4

Here it comes.  After years of rumors, Sony announced  that PlayStation 4 is finally coming out!  Changes to the gaming system include a new and improved controller, the ability to share gaming footage, graphic updates, and a quick start up time.  Sorry kids, you can’t jump through your TV screen just yet.  The PlayStation 4 is Sony’s attempt to reclaim their throne as the top company in the gaming industry since the Xbox 360 and the Wii have made such a title ambiguous.   Their goals for this release are increasing social interaction within gaming and reducing download times as close to zero as possible.   This downloading news begs a very important question, like Red Box’s and downloadable movies were the downfall of stores like Blockbuster, could we soon be seeing gamer stores like Game Stop go under?  I don’t know, but what I do know is Diablo three on the PlayStation 4 looks fantastic!

PS4 and all her glory.

Making Moves...

Today was incredibly exciting!  The new floor mats for the entrance to my building arrived today and I installed them at nine thirty AM.  I know isn’t that so amazi- okay yes it sounds boring but I petitioned my school senate to get mats for the entrances so that the floor would not be as slippery as it always is.   I guess I appreciate the fact that I made a difference.
Contributing is important.  When something in our opinion is wrong it is important to say something about it and at least try and make things right.  Doing nothing is easy yes, but sometimes doing something isn’t that hard.  Be fair and respectful of contrary opinions and be flexible.  Choose to try over Apathy.   Your little bit goes a long way.

A bit over the top but you catch my drift.

Cocaine Won The Civil War

Any other detail about my day today was eclipsed by my recently acquired knowledge that President Ulysses S  Grant did massive amounts of cocaine.  That's all you need to know...  R.I.P

Anger and Jeggings.

So there’s this thing called anger.  The other day my girlfriend and I had a run in with some serious amounts of it in a drug store.  After leaving the hospital where my girlfriend was diagnosed with a kidney infection that needed some serious prescription meds to help her get over it, we went to a nearby CVS to pick it up.  At first it seemed routine.  We gave the pharmacist our prescription and sat down to wait for it to be filled.  Then, while waiting, we were confronted with the frustration of an adjacent customer. “How long did she tell you your thing would take?”  Said a woman who had been seated and waiting before we had even got there.  “She said it would take fifteen minutes” I replied with the spirit of anyone who wishes to engage in conversation with a complete stranger at 11 o’clock PM.  She continued however, and as soon as possible used this encounter to convey to me that she was in terrible discomfort.   “You’ll be waiting twice that long. I’ve been waiting here for fifty minutes for a prescription that was supposed to take a mere thirty five minutes.  If they don’t do something in five minutes I’m going to do something.  I’m serious!  It’s these stupid interns they have no idea what they’re doing!”  I nod and acknowledge that my ears in the course of this one way conversation had not been sliced off.   Sure enough thirty seconds later, she gets up and goes over to the counter and begins to yell at the worker.  “I need to speak to the manager!” The four-foot-ten pharmaceutical tech who was confronted replied: “there’s no manager here right now.”  Then, the angry woman repeated her previous statement four times, each repetition louder than the one before.  Her booming voice shook the isles in a way that I can find no other explanation for than that her lungs had developed so much that they were the reason for the flesh that sagged over her five sizes to small jeggings.  Finally, with her voice approaching levels that would have blown down a house of bricks, the manager arrived on the scene.   “What wrong miss?” he asked with all manner of professionalism.  “I’ve been waiting here for twenty minutes over the time I was supposed to for my prescription to be filled and also, this lady lied to me and said there was no manager.  I don’t like being lied to!  I’m in pain!  I don’t have time for this girls screw ups.  She’s probably spending her time taking my pills rather than giving it to me ‘one for you, five for me, one for you, six for me….’ rather than doing her damn…”  My ears were off.   What unfolded next was some attempt to calm this berserker with the fact that the pharmaceutical tech meant there was no “pharmaceutical manager” in the store at that moment and that her prescription would be filled as quickly as possible(also, there was some comment later about how she couldn’t pay for her prescription after it had been filled).  We got out of there as soon as possible.

Yes I can understand frustration anger and feelings of being ignored.  Making a public spectacle in an inappropriate public place of your suffering is something I find hard to tolerate. Quietly talk to the manager and solve your problems like a decent human being.  Don’t blow the house down.

And buy jeggings that fit.  Or actually, just don’t buy them at all.

Smoking Laws on SUNY College Campuses

So there’s this thing in life called laws.  Sometimes you appreciate them sometimes you don’t.   Personally I would feel bad if a law that directly affected me was implemented without my prior knowledge.  That being said, to anyone who smokes cigarettes on SUNY run college campuses, in 2014 a law will go into effect that bans the use of cigarettes on the campus at any given time.  The penalty for being caught smoking is two hundred dollars.

Here is an old article by WSKG that outlines the details of the law:

Since then, such a law is now passed and will be in full effect by 2014.  If you smoke and go to a SUNY school and are upset about this.  I suggest you take some form of action before it is too late.

It's Under Nine Thousand!!!

Today my sad attempt to put my entire daily life on the internet has been visited three thousand times.   While part of me feels a little awesome about this minuscule triumph in my quest to understand blogging, another part of me questions whether I am wasting my time cataloging my life in a public diary of which someday something I say may be used against me. It seems that in recognizing that I have yielded to the fact that very little anymore is private, I have begun to view this thing I’m doing in a different perspective. Put quite plainly, if someone wanted to find out a lot of stuff about me they could…
Regardless of this fact I will not stop (sorry Katarina Carleo) because I believe that sometimes doing something is better than doing nothing.  Maybe looking back from an older age I might remember better  that snot nosed college student who was trying to do god knows what with his life. So I guess I might as well be courteous to myself as well as to those people who stopped their day in order to care about my life and reveal several things that I haven’t already.
-I still keep my stuffed killer whale named Whales Fargo that I got at SeaWorld when I was a kid in my room at all times.
-I enjoy Manga such as OnePiece, Claymore, and Full Metal Alchemist.
-I enjoy Magic the gathering and my favorite color to play is red.
-I play way too much “Star Wars, Emipire At War” than I’d care to admit (Joe when you are older you better still play video games or I will reach through a dimension in time and throw my useless ass WII at your face).
- I write poetry…
Thank you for your time internet.  That is all.

KEVIN!

As I sit in my room harmlessly reading Kafka’s Metamorphosis, I hear from my window the quite loud and angry sound of a woman who is apparently upset with someone named Kevin.  I believe her exact words were: “Fuck you Kevin! Fuck you!” While I laughed to myself a little, I’m sure there was a perfectly understandable reason for her frustration.  But then again, I’ve yet to know a bad Kevin.  After all, I love Kevin James in The King of Queens.  There’s also Kevin Garnett who is considered one of the most dominant and versatile players of his time.  There’s even Kevin who lives down the hall from me he’s really cool too.  Hi Kevin!  With all that said I believe this outburst of profanity was unjustified and that the woman for slandering Kevin’s good name should come forth and apologize.  Seriously people, we need to treat our Kevin’s with respect!
Kevin Hart people... COME ON!

Real World Problems (Drones) Eat your Vegetables Internet

Below is an article from MSNBC's websie that depicts perfectly US drone culture today.

In light of the sudden uproar throughout America at the implications that a US citizen could be executed by our government for associating themselves with a radical terrorist, it is clear what the general consensus on the issue is.  First, we as a nation have no problem executing NON US CITIZENS the exact same way.  Second, both sides of the political spectrum show no sign of disagreeing on “killing terrorists” because of course we done like “terrorists” (what does that mean anyway).  Third, if we as people just sit here and wait, this problem will blow over in a couple weeks and we can all get back to watching Dance Moms.   So if you don’t like the way this is going, start telling Obama through various sources of social media to stop this BS!  If you like it, I think Dance Moms is on channel 30 if you live at Purchase.

YahooooWhat?

I must say the Yahoo news feed on their homepage must be the most ridiculous arrangement of stories in the news world.   Each group of five stories is like a game of roulette, whichever article you set your eyes on first is the one that’s going to be your piece of news for the day.  It can be anything from the serious disasters of the world to why baby oil cures cancer.  I honestly don’t know where they get some of these stories though.  There are things there that society would never care to know, but Yahoo proceeds to post articles such as: “Burger chains secretive owner revealed” on the front page.   I don’t even live near an “In-N-Out Burger!”
Also this is interesting:

YONAS

It was to my delight that today I have discovered a Bronx rapper named YONAS.  His album graced the ITunes chart at number five today and I was intrigued.  So far I find incredibly uplifting, lyrical, and possessing a unique style.  Not vulgar at all on his track “Temptation,” he addresses suicide and its futility and instead glorifies the spirit to keep trying, work hard, and not letting anything bring you down.  On his track “Be There” YONAS gets inside the head of “that girl on the pole” who just wants to reach her dreams and is going through a hard time in her life.  His voice is similar to that of Childish Gambino in my opinion but his content is certainly something that Rap needs.  Catchy, refreshing, quality, music.

MEGA LAUNDRY

If there were a megalomaniac mega blocks Megaton, would that megalomaniac mega blocks Megatron’s megazord named Megan, sing Megadeath into her megaphone?  I bet she would.  Anyway, there’s this problem I have.  It’s my laundry.  See, it hasn’t been done and it should be, but as I stare at it I realize nothing is happening.  When I leave the room and come back it’s still there too, just all dirty and not moving.  I wonder if this is something that happens to everyone.  Hopefully when I leave for the city this weekend and come back it will be done, but until then I must continue this rather uncomfortable stare down.  That is all.
